Leader: Pastor Stephen Ristow
We offer an intensive two-year instruction in the Bible's teachings for students in the 7th and 8th grade years. One year we use Dr. Martin Luther's Small Catechism as the framework for the course -- focusing on the main teachings of Scripture: The Ten Commandments, The Creed, The Lord's Prayer, Baptism, The Lord's Supper, The Office of the Keys and Confession. The other year of this two-year instruction is a deeper look into the Bible book of Matthew. That book includes all the main teachings of Christianity. The students read through that entire book, memorize passages from it, and use Luther's Catechism side-by-side with it where the doctrines occur.
The Bible is the chief book used to discover where all Christian teaching comes from and to grow in its truth. Memorization of certain key passages of the Bible is required.
At the end of these two years, if a student wishes it, he or she may become a member of our congregation and larger church body (the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod) and become eligible to receive the Lord's Supper in our WELS churches.
Pastor Ristow teaches Confirmation Instruction class to the 7th and 8th grades twice a week during the school day at Zion Lutheran School. However, if you are interested in receiving instruction for your child outside of our Christian day school setting, please contact Pastor Ristow (call 262-367-1091 or email firstname.lastname@example.org) as classes may be scheduled by request.
